FAIR AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PRODUCTION
We sell products from local artisans and small businesses, mostly made using ancestral techniques. In this way we support thousands of families and businesses along the Andes, from Peru to southern Argentina, and promote fair trade in a sustainable way.
In terms of animal welfare, the llamas live in the wild in a way that suits their species. This has been their natural habitat for generations, and animal freedom is part of the culture in these regions of the Andes.
Shearing is generally done by hand with special shears, only by specialists who keep these traditional techniques alive. It takes about 20 minutes per animal, and llamas are usually shorn every two years. The animals are cared for by small farming families. Unlike mechanical shearing, hand shearing is gentle and leaves the coat long enough to protect the animal from temperature changes and rain at this altitude in the Andes.
Warm – tender – robust – environmentally friendly
This noble, high-quality product will accompany you for many years. Thanks to its high llama fibre content, it is hypoallergenic, warm and robust, with excellent insulating and temperature-regulating properties. In addition, natural llama fibre is antibacterial: bacteria cannot multiply on its surface and die off. Finally, llama fibre is biodegradable.
